Biography Dallas G. Laws, 70, of East Peoria, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2007 at home. Dallas was born on June 20, 1936 in Paducah, KY, son of Daniel and Nannie O’Donald Laws. He married Irene K. Forgacs on November 30, 1957 in Tecumseh, MI. They were married for twenty-four years and divorced, but remained very close friends. He is survived by two sons, Harold D. and Mark A. Laws, both of Pontiac, MI; two daughters, Lieutenant Linda K. Laws, US Navy, of San Diego, CA and Teresa A. Laws of Auburn Hills, MI; sister, Hazel (Laws) Faughn of KY; three grandchildren (Tabatha, Tyler, and Trevor); two nieces, Cindy and Laurie; and two nephews, Jeff and Christopher. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Calvin and Eddie. Dallas was a machinist for Caterpillar, Inc. of East Peoria and retired in 1991, after thirty years of service. Dallas enjoyed playing Bingo at the Tazewell County Bingo Hall in Creve Coeur, playing rummy, showing people tricks and telling them funny stories…and his Pall Malls. He enjoyed spending his time with his friends, Shirley Osbourne, Big Steve and Shirley and the rest of his friends at Hardee’s and the Tazewell Bingo Hall. Dallas enjoyed country music, especially The Oakridge Boys and Johnny Cash, but his favorite song was, “Here’s a Quarter, Call Someone Who Cares”. He collected Troll Dolls and loved watching professional wrestling back in the ‘70’s and early ‘80’s. Dallas enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at home in Michigan. He was proud to see that his children had families of their own and were doing well in life and was proud to have his daughter Linda serving our country in the United States Navy. Dallas was a very humorous person, with an outgoing personality and a character to no-end. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Shrine Parish of St. Joseph in Pontiac, MI. Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Clary Funeral Consultants in Peoria and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Pontiac, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Shrine Parish of St. Joseph, 400 South Blvd. West, Pontiac, MI 48341 or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are entrusted to Clary Funeral Consultants in Peoria. |
